About Me - 1st Blog Entry

First off, my name is James. My online alias is "SplitSuit" which came from a few years back when I used to play PLO8 as my main poker game. There really isn't some great backstory that comes with the name, but alas, it's different and I feel it works just fine.

I've been playing poker for about 4 years now, 2 of those on a semi-pro basis. I began playing in college as a freshman. I ran into some kids the first night of college through one of those "meet-n-greet" your roomates programs that played poker. So we set up a 2table SNG for that weekend, filled it up, and started making it a weekly regiment which quickly turned to 2x/week. I met most of the people I'm friends with now through that game, so I'm very thankful that we set up that initial game.

I'll keep this blog post a little more personal, and try to interject more poker stuff into later posts. I'm from a suburb outside of Chicago, IL, and moved to a suburb outside of Boston, MA when I was in highschool. I went to Syracuse University next, had an awesome 4years, and just graduated a month or so ago. From here, I'm playing poker on a full-time basis (albeit, a very lazy full-time basis) and moving to Las Vegas in the next 2 months. For now, I'm living in Boston, so if anyone is in the area, I'm more than happy to go get some CheeseCake Factory with you =)

My main goal with this blog, and subsequently my website, is to 1.) force myself to write more, 2.) share my thoughts, feelings, and concepts with other people, 3.) show people what I can offer, and 4.) hopefully entertain people all the while. I love writing, and though I'm not the best at it, I do try to entertain people with my writing style. As for the blog, it will get more poker based as I go on (though I will try to steer away from making this a bad-beat blog...we've all heard our fair share of those stories, I'll try not to bother you with them).
